Ever Present Help

I’ve been in a rut, uninspired, and beat down by how humans are treating each other. Work is different. Schedules are different and I’m the kinda gal that needs a routine or else I feel upside down. Unless you’re in my close circle, you may not know that I battle anxiety, a form of OCD, and PTSD. So with the way our world has been, writing hasn’t come easily to me and I can’t just write something I don’t feel passionately about. But you know what I’m passionate about? Jesus. Always. And you know what else? He’s passionate about me too. And if you want to get to know Him, He’ll be there waiting to show up and show out just how much He has loved you before you were born.
In Psalm 46:1, King David states “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Wow. Have you ever wanted to run away and hide? Or just “ostrich” as I call it when talking to my friends. To just stick your head in the sand and wait for the trouble to be over? But there’s always another bit of trouble lurking isn’t there? That’s why I find such grand comfort in the words “ever present”.
I can look back over my life and there are times I thought I would never recover from. My life was not going to be what I planned. Times I felt completely at a loss. In those times, Jesus was ever present.
I look back now and see His hands at work in every single detail. He was ever present in the mistakes and the heartbreaks I thought would alter my entire existence.
And you know? Those things did change me. But they taught me so much about myself and Jesus, and more than anything, my faith grew. I pray that during these trying times in our country and in our world you feel the presence of God. And when you feel like running away or “ostriching”, take refuge in Him. Gather your strength from Him. Because if you rely on yourself or others for strength, you will always come up short. People need the Lord. There are needs that He created us with that only He can fill so we can learn how loving and merciful He is and not take that for granted.
I will say, sometimes His comfort comes in a different way than I thought I wanted. But I promise if you surrender your plans to Him, His ways are greater than anything you could imagine because living for Him may not always be easy or comfortable but I promise it’s well worth it.
Let’s just love people like Jesus does. That’s all we can do and I believe if we do that so much will improve.
His ever present help, and refuge is there for the taking. If you ever want to know more about Him, shoot me a message. I’d love to talk to you about Him.
