Merah Kathryn’s Hot Air Balloon First Birthday

We went with a hot air balloon theme/rainbows because: 1. Mama loves hot air balloons and 2. MK is a rainbow baby so we had to incorporate that.

I made this set up mostly by myself but had some help from my mom, a glue gun, and a couple eager to help nephews.

Her birthday sign came from Michelle Ray Designs on Etsy. It matched her invitations that I didn’t mail because this ended up being a much smaller affair than planned (thanks ‘Rona). I used her toy basket from Target and just hot glued dowel rods on the inside then covered it with flowers from Hobby Lobby. In hindsight, I should’ve gotten flowers on a more pliable vine, but still, this worked. Her giant balloon came from Amazon. Her Papa aired it up with an air compressor. I covered it in tulle and then trimmed it. That was probably the most difficult part.

Merah Kathryn’s beautiful flowers came from the sweetest flower shop in Madisonville, Caroline’s. My mom and I arranged the centerpieces ourselves. My mother-in-law, my mom, and my daddy all blew up the balloons for the arch. I thought it would be a great idea to do this two nights in advance. I was wrong. The day before would’ve been ok but.. they were starting to wilt by Saturday afternoon. One nephew and a brother, and a sister-in-law later, we had a few replacement balloons. Merah’s cake came from Hollicakes in Loudon and it was amazing! She was super swest to work with. I couldn’t have been more pleased. It tasted as good as it looked. I really can’t say enough good things about this precious cake!

These cookies were the cutest ever. I’ve heard a lot of people say that cookies like these don’t taste good and you’re just paying for the way they look. Honestly I didn’t care how they tasted! Ha! But seriously, Not Yo Mama’s in Maryville did a fantastic job. They tasted amazing! I wish I had gotten more just to have at the house for a snack!

My mom made Merah’s smash cake and I just stuck flowers on top. My friend and I made her banner from material and ribbon from Hobby Lobby. It was super easy and way cheaper than ordering something from Etsy! I did get her cake topper from there though. It came from RSVP Party Decor. They made it exactly like I wanted.

“Your Song” by Elton John is one of my many songs to her and I just had to incorporate it.

I bought this “one” balloon on Etsy and blew it up myself. It was not difficult at all! I had the pom-pom garland from Easter. It originally came from Etsy as well. It was perfect for displaying Merah’s monthly rainbow pictures.

Now for the fashion! Merah Kathryn’s party dress came from MudPie. It was muslin and sooo soft and comfy. Her head wrap is from BunnyKnots. This one is called Ivy, in the raga option. Her bracelets came in a bundle from PoppyLane. We obviously loved the company name and will definitely be buying more from them. They hand make all their bracelets and they have them in sizes from preemie to mama! So you can match your little love!

I didn’t want her to ruin her pretty dress so I got a super cheap romper on Amazon. I’m talking ten bucks cheap. Her party hat also came from there!

Now for the mamas, this is the most comfortable most affordable outfit ever! The pants are linen from Old Navy and so is the shirt! I felt like I was running around in pajamas. And they’re on sale right now! I also wore my ballerina pink Tieks. They are totally worth the price. I’ve never regretted buying them. I teased my hair to Heaven because this is the South and we love is some big hair. It actually stayed out of my face by being teased and of course the headband helped as well. It was super cheap on Amazon too!
